2 Week Sugar Challenge update

Hi there, I know some of you are real keen in joining me next week and I am so grateful so I thought of making up 2 teams. Let me know your thoughts as we have a few that have already given up majority of the sweeter things in life ;-) and others try to limit their sugar intake.

*Come back to this post regularly and add your comments. I will then collate all your info and suggestions to make our official sugar free post for next week with helpful tips to avoid sugar and what to replace when we need our sugar hit*

Team One ~ Fruits of life
No sugar whatsoever includes honey, agave and other sweeteners. Fruit is allowed.

Team Two ~ Sugar-less babes
Allowed one sugar serve per day eg: in their coffee or honey, maple syrup in their yogurt or cereal toppings. Avoid both daily.

I guess our aim is to limit or give up sugar completely over the next 2 weeks. It's hard! Trust me, I haven't been able to do it 100% but it is also doable. If we fail we just get back into the no sugar zone. It's based on a honesty system, so if you're cheating you're only doing it to yourself.

Which team are you going to join? Also are you in for 1 week or 2 weeks?? XxDani

  7. Michael and I are in!! Team 2 - Sugarbabes!! He´ll have a sugar in his coffee and I ´need´my honey in my tea and/or smoothie!!!

Oh my god...it´s going to be so hard. I am the biggest sweet tooth and need my sugar rush in the afternoons. If not, I get a head ache and I´m sure that´s NOT a good sign... I´m thinking that I would join team 2 for the first week and then go cold turkey the week after. I think this needs to be a gradual process, haham :)

ps Dani, do you know what I would love? If I could look up your fabulous recipes under ´food´. I know it´s under construction but I can´t wait to be able to find them more easily instead of having to scroll down on your blog :)

  8. THAT'S SO FABULOUS GUYS!!! I am so glad you are joining me on this 2 week quest!!!! Yes I am desperately in need of sorting out my food recipes as well as being strict on my recipe measurements & quantity etc.....

As I type this I just threw all these green veggies, curry leaves, kaffir leaves, green lentils with chicken stock in a pot and the smell is so aromatic that I really need to write down 2 potatoes, 2 leeks, 4 garlic cloves, 6 brussel sprouts, 1/2 brocolli etc....I am so new to this but it is my journey and whole purpose behind this blogging bizo!!!

Please feel free provide any other feedback you have as I would love to make this more user friendly for you all xx Dani

  9. Count me in, Dani! I am going with Sugar Babes for two weeks. Like Sheri there, don't want to go with the full on challenge so I am sticking with 1 sugar server per day. Even though I 'think' I am eating less than that. Need to check on the labels now. Whee!!

    1. Great effort SUGAR BABE!!! Glad to have you onboard. I have NEVER actually done a complete SUGAR free challenge so I am really getting nervous! I am buying my best chocolate this weekend and making sure this keeps me going for the 2 week withdrawal ;-)

  10. Just a question Dani...how about sugar free gum and Pepsi Max for example? There´s no sugar in it however, it still gives you that false sense of a sugar rush...Not sure what to do there...? Jxx

    1. Best to keep clear of all these artificial sweeteners Jess as Pepsi MAX and Coke Zero have "aspartame".....

"Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that’s considered by many health experts to be one of the most dangerous food additives in existence. Despite a significant amount of controversy, aspartame is frequently associated with cancer, neurological disorders including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, and a very long list of other conditions and unpleasant symptoms."

For more info on this article read here http://naturalbias.com/are-you-being-fooled-by-zero-calorie-sodas/

I'll create a sugar free challenge tab on my pages ontop so we can have a centralised area we can turn to for Q's and A's and tips on eating supportive "natural sugar" foods within the next 2 weeks....I'm getting a bit nervous but excited at the same time as I have NEVER been successful at eliminating sugar completely from my diet!!!

Let's aim for natural sugars found in fruit, yogurt, nuts etc...also grab a supply of mineral water, limes and add fresh mint! That's how we have beaten the soft drink habit!
